The future now: A marker of time, 2020
This video introduces a site-responsive project created by art collective Related Tactics (Michele Carlson, Weston Teruya, and Nathan Watson) and on view in 14 storefronts along the Third Street corridor in San Franciscoโs Bayview neighborhood from November 19, 2020-Feb. 14, 2021. The series illuminates facets of Black life in the city and explores the state of national politics. Presented in English, Spanish, and Chinese, the posters include historical images, provocative meditations, and calls to action. This video introduces the three members of Related Tactics (Michele Carlson, Weston Teruya, and Nathan Watson) as well as a few of the participating businesses and community members. โThe future nowโ is Part 1 of โBecome The Monuments That Cannot Fall,โ an exhibition featuring Related Tactics organized by Astria Suparak and USFโs MA in Museum Studies program with the Thacher Gallery.
Stand Arm In Arm To Resist: An Evening with Related Tactics, 2020
This conversation between art collective Related Tactics (Michele Carlson, Weston Teruya, and Nathan Watson) and USFโs MA in Museum Studies students will include the launch of a new survey exhibition as well as a preview of a public art project commissioned by Thacher Gallery and curated by Astria Suparak. The online event took place on Dec. 1, 2020. The event introduces the site-responsive project "The future now" as well as the online exhibition "Become The Monuments That Cannot Fall," making connections between the groupโs work and the individual art practices of members Michele Carlson, Weston Teruya, and Nathan Watson.
